Week kicks off with light showers and cooler air
Starting overnight Sunday, May 25, a band of light rain is expected to move across Metro Vancouver, bringing up to 5 millimetres of precipitation. Clouds and passing showers will persist through Monday morning and may stretch into the early afternoon, keeping temperatures subdued. A daytime high of just 18°C (64°F) is forecast for Monday, according to Environment Canada meteorologist Yimei Li.
Tuesday brings drier, milder weather before the midweek heat spike
By Tuesday, May 27, skies are expected to clear out, leading to warmer conditions. Temperatures should reach 18°C (64°F) near the shoreline, while inland areas could warm up to between 21 and 24°C (70–75°F). This will serve as a preview for what’s to come midweek.
Wednesday scorcher: a ‘one-day wonder’ nearing 30°C
Wednesday, May 28, will be the standout day of the week, described by Li as a “one-day wonder”. Temperatures are forecast to surge into the mid to high 20s, with inland communities such as East Vancouver, Newton in Surrey, and Coquitlam’s city centre potentially hitting 30°C (86°F). It will be a brief but intense burst of summer-like heat.
Cooler air returns quickly on Thursday
The heat won’t stick around. On Thursday, May 29, a new trough will develop near Vancouver, bringing unstable conditions, cloud cover, and scattered showers. Temperatures are expected to drop sharply, with a high of only 18°C (64°F)—nearly 10 degrees cooler than the previous day.
Uncertain but milder outlook for Friday and Saturday
The forecast for Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31 remains a bit uncertain, but current models suggest a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low 20s°C (low 70s°F). Overnight lows throughout the week will remain stable, sitting in the low teens°C (50s°F).
