Weather conditions today had been favourable for the development of strong thunderstorms, with potential for large hail and powerful wind gusts.
Main hazards identified during the watch:
Large hail, with sizes estimated between quarter and toonie in diameter.
Strong, gusty winds, with potential gusts exceeding 90 km/h (about 56 mph).
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when the atmosphere supports the possibility of dangerous storms, capable of producing damaging winds, heavy rain, or large hail.
