Toronto<\/strong> is once again facing scorching conditions<\/strong>, with Environment Canada<\/strong> issuing its third heat warning<\/strong> in just a few weeks. A stifling air mass is hovering over the region, bringing relentless heat and humidity<\/strong> that could stretch into next Thursday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The federal weather agency<\/strong> says daytime highs<\/strong> will hover between 29 \u00b0C and 32 \u00b0C<\/strong> (84 \u00b0F to 90 \u00b0F<\/strong>) through the middle of next week, with humidex values<\/strong> expected to peak between 35 and 40<\/strong>. Friday marks what could be the hottest day<\/strong> in this stretch so far.<\/p>\n \u201cA prolonged period of near heat warning levels continues,\u201d Environment Canada said in its advisory. \u201cExtreme heat can affect everyone\u2019s health\u2026 take action to protect yourself and others.\u201d<\/p>\n The agency is urging residents to stay hydrated and check in on neighbours, especially seniors and people with chronic health conditions. Heat-related symptoms<\/strong> can include dizziness<\/strong>, nausea<\/strong>, exhaustion<\/strong>, and confusion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Saturday\u2019s forecast<\/strong> calls for a high of 32 \u00b0C<\/strong> with a humidex of 40<\/strong>, and there\u2019s a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms<\/strong> in the evening. Sunday<\/strong> won\u2019t bring much relief either, with a forecasted high of 30 \u00b0C<\/strong> and humidex values near 38<\/strong>, along with a 30 percent chance of rain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n To help residents cope, the City of Toronto<\/strong> is keeping several outdoor pools<\/strong> open later than usual. Eight facilities, including Alex Duff<\/strong>, Monarch Park<\/strong>, McGregor Park<\/strong>, and Sunnyside\u2013Gus Ryder<\/strong>, will stay open until 11:45 p.m.<\/strong> Friday. Halbert Park Pool<\/strong> will remain open until 9 p.m.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Starting tonight at 7 p.m.<\/strong>, the Metro Hall<\/strong> lobby downtown will operate as a 24\/7 cooling space<\/strong>, offering an air-conditioned refuge for anyone needing a break from the heat. The city has also extended hours at five civic centres<\/strong>, including North York<\/strong>, Scarborough<\/strong>, Etobicoke<\/strong>, York<\/strong>, and East York<\/strong>. These buildings will remain open to the public until 9:30 p.m.<\/strong> throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n Residents who don\u2019t have access to air conditioning are encouraged to seek relief in public libraries<\/strong>, community centres<\/strong>, or shaded city parks<\/strong>.
