Alors que les <strong>New-Yorkais<\/strong> suffoquaient sous une <strong>chaleur caniculaire de 32 \u00b0C (90 \u00b0F)<\/strong>, <strong>Val-d\u2019Or<\/strong> fr\u00f4lait le <strong>9 \u00b0C (48 \u00b0F)<\/strong> avec une sensation encore plus froide de <strong>7 \u00b0C (45 \u00b0F)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Cette diff\u00e9rence de <strong>23 degr\u00e9s Celsius<\/strong> entre les deux r\u00e9gions n\u2019est pas qu\u2019un simple hasard m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique. Elle s\u2019inscrit dans une <strong>anomalie thermique exceptionnelle<\/strong>, d\u2019autant plus frappante qu\u2019elle s\u2019\u00e9loigne largement des normales saisonni\u00e8res.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Des \u00e9carts records par rapport aux moyennes de saison<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de <strong>l\u2019Abitibi<\/strong>, on note une <strong>anomalie n\u00e9gative de 15 \u00b0C<\/strong>, ce qui signifie que les temp\u00e9ratures sont <strong>largement sous les moyennes de juin<\/strong>. \u00c0 l\u2019oppos\u00e9, <strong>New York<\/strong> conna\u00eet une <strong>anomalie positive de 8 \u00b0C<\/strong>, bien au-dessus des normales climatiques attendues. Ces deux \u00e9carts conjugu\u00e9s donnent lieu \u00e0 cette diff\u00e9rence spectaculaire de <strong>23 \u00b0C (41 \u00b0F)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00eame \u00e0 <strong>Montr\u00e9al<\/strong>, pourtant plus au sud, la temp\u00e9rature plafonnait \u00e0 <strong>21 \u00b0C (70 \u00b0F)<\/strong> avec un <strong>ressenti de 20 \u00b0C (68 \u00b0F)<\/strong>. Plus au nord, \u00e0 <strong>Chibougamau<\/strong>, le mercure n\u2019a atteint que <strong>7 \u00b0C (45 \u00b0F)<\/strong>, avec une <strong>sensation glaciale de 3 \u00b0C (37 \u00b0F)<\/strong>, un v\u00e9ritable air d&rsquo;automne en plein <strong>mois de juin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Pourquoi le Qu\u00e9bec reste-t-il au frais?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La r\u00e9ponse se trouve dans la configuration actuelle de l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re. Une <strong>d\u00e9pression en altitude<\/strong>, souvent appel\u00e9e <em>creux<\/em>, a install\u00e9 une <strong>masse d\u2019air froid<\/strong> qui <strong>refoule<\/strong> la chaleur estivale vers le sud. Ce syst\u00e8me bloque litt\u00e9ralement <strong>la progression de l\u2019air chaud vers le nord<\/strong>, laissant une grande partie du <strong>Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong> sous des conditions automnales, tandis que <strong>le nord-est am\u00e9ricain<\/strong>, lui, baigne dans un air subtropical.<\/p>\n<p>En somme, <strong>la chaleur estivale semble bloqu\u00e9e \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re<\/strong>, mettant en lumi\u00e8re un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique peu fr\u00e9quent d&rsquo;une telle intensit\u00e9 sur une distance relativement courte \u2014 <strong>environ 1 000 km<\/strong> seulement entre <strong>New York<\/strong> et <strong>Val-d\u2019Or<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Une anomalie climatique \u00e0 surveiller de pr\u00e8s<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Bien que les villes comme <strong>New York<\/strong> et <strong>Val-d\u2019Or<\/strong> ne soient pas voisines imm\u00e9diates, une telle <strong>disparit\u00e9 de temp\u00e9rature<\/strong> est <strong>rare<\/strong> \u00e0 cette \u00e9chelle.
