Sunny Memorial Day gives way to midweek rain
Metro Detroit residents enjoyed a picture-perfect Memorial Day, with sunny skies and comfortable highs near 70°F (21°C) across the region. As Monday evening progressed, cloud cover gradually increased, but temperatures stayed pleasant, mostly in the 50s°F (10–15°C) by midnight across Southeast Michigan. Cooler spots like Fowlerville, Holly, and Armada dipped into the upper 40s°F (8–9°C), while Monroe, Lincoln Park, Oak Park, and Eastpointe held steady in the low 50s°F (10–11°C).
Tuesday: More clouds, mild breeze, still dry
Tuesday will be mild once again, with highs in the lower 70s°F (21–22°C). However, clouds will be more prominent than Monday. Winds from the east and east-northeast will blow between 5 and 15 mph, occasionally gusting up to 20 mph. Overnight, skies will remain mostly cloudy, with lows holding in the mid-50s°F (12–13°C).
This will mark the last dry night for a while, as the weather pattern shifts overnight into Wednesday morning.
Wednesday: Showers return before the commute
Expect rain showers to arrive in Southeast Michigan before the morning drive on Wednesday. The day will stay cooler, with highs only reaching the lower to mid-60s°F (16–18°C). Overnight temperatures will slide to the lower 50s°F (10–11°C).
Thursday and Friday: On-and-off rain, warming up
Both Thursday and Friday bring additional chances for rain. Thursday’s highs will top out in the mid to upper 60s°F (18–20°C), while Friday warms slightly with highs in the mid-70s°F (23–24°C).
This rainy pattern will break in time for the weekend, setting the stage for pleasant conditions during the Detroit Grand Prix.
