A brief pause from the rain in North Texas
DALLAS, Tuesday, May 28, 2025 — After a wet and stormy Monday that drenched the Dallas-Fort Worth area with over 2 inches of rain, Tuesday offers a short-lived break from the showers. Despite still-damp streets and lawns, no new rain is expected for much of North Texas today, providing a brief reprieve from the unsettled weather.
Temperatures have also cooled notably following the storms. Monday’s high of 83°F (28°C) was a significant drop from the mid-90s°F (mid-30s°C) seen over the Memorial Day weekend. This cooling trend is expected to persist throughout the rest of the week, with highs near 80°F (27°C) — a few degrees below normal for late May in North Texas.
Patchy morning fog and partly sunny skies will dominate today’s forecast. However, some southern counties near Waco may still see isolated showers as moisture lingers in the atmosphere. Winds will remain light from the northeast, at 5 to 10 mph, helping maintain cooler daytime conditions.
Storm chances rise again midweek
By Wednesday, the weather becomes more unsettled. The chance of showers and thunderstorms will increase through the day, particularly during the afternoon hours, when the probability reaches about 50%. Thursday brings even more instability with a greater likelihood of thunderstorms, as the area remains under the influence of eastern winds drawing in moisture.
Looking ahead to the weekend
The forecast improves by Friday, which should be partly cloudy and mild, with highs in the lower 80s°F (around 28°C). By Saturday, sunshine returns mixed with clouds, and temperatures will rise slightly to a high near 85°F (29°C). Winds will remain generally light and variable, shifting slightly from the northeast.
Residents of Dallas, Fort Worth, and nearby regions should enjoy today’s drier conditions while preparing for the next round of storms expected midweek.
