Storm risk rises Thursday in Denver and the eastern plains
Denver faces a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day this Thursday, with increasing clouds and a higher chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be mild, reaching highs in the upper 60s to low 70s Fahrenheit (around 20 °C). Showers and storms are expected to initiate over the mountains and move east along the Interstate 25 corridor, intensifying as the day progresses.
Denver County, along with much of the eastern plains, is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Main threats include damaging wind gusts and large hail, while the tornado risk remains low but not zero—with a slight chance for isolated spin-ups. Areas in southeastern Colorado, especially around Lamar and Springfield, are under a tornado watch for the same period.
Clouds linger into the night with mild lows
Storm activity will gradually taper off before midnight, with cloudy skies continuing into the overnight hours. Overnight temperatures will settle into the lower 50s Fahrenheit (around 10–12 °C), accompanied by light winds and stable conditions.
More storms possible Friday, calmer weekend ahead
Friday brings another round of afternoon storm chances, with extra cloud cover and mild highs in the low 70s Fahrenheit (21–23 °C). A slight risk for severe weather extends south toward Colorado Springs, with gusty winds and hail again possible.
Saturday starts the weekend on a brighter note, with more sunshine and temperatures rising to the lower 80s Fahrenheit (around 27 °C). There’s a slight chance for isolated showers, but the day looks generally dry and pleasant.
Sunday is slightly more unsettled, with partly cloudy skies and a better chance for scattered showers or storms. Highs will hold steady in the low 80s Fahrenheit.
Next week: Mild temperatures and scattered storm potential
Monday opens the week with highs in the upper 70s Fahrenheit (25–26 °C) and a low risk of storms, along with some additional cloud cover. Tuesday continues the trend, with small storm chances and mild temperatures around 80 °F (27 °C). On Wednesday, the chance for afternoon showers or storms increases, with highs once again in the low 80s Fahrenheit.
