A hazy Sunday with lingering showers over Detroit
Sunday in Metro Detroit opens under mostly cloudy skies, with persistent haze caused by Canadian wildfire smoke drifting across the region. The air quality remains poor, especially for sensitive groups, prompting a need for caution if you’re outdoors, especially in downtown Detroit during events like Motor City Pride.
Temperatures will rise to a high near 72°F (22°C) by the afternoon, but on-and-off rain showers could dampen plans. These will be light and intermittent, so expect brief pauses of dry weather in between. The low pressure system skirting south of southeast Michigan keeps cloud coverage dense, contributing to the overall gloomy atmosphere.
Clouds and showers continue into Monday
Sunday night will remain cloudy, with the chance for scattered rain lingering into the overnight hours. Temperatures will fall to a low around 59°F (15°C). This unsettled pattern will stretch into Monday, where skies remain mostly cloudy with a high reaching 78°F (26°C).
More rain showers are possible throughout the day and into Monday night, when temperatures dip again to around 56°F (13°C).
Slight improvement expected Tuesday before warming trend
On Tuesday, the clouds will break, giving way to partly sunny skies. While a few isolated showers can’t be ruled out, the overall weather should feel drier and more pleasant. Expect a high near 75°F (24°C).
By Wednesday, once the frontal system shifts east, dry conditions are expected to take hold. Temperatures will climb to the lower 80s°F (around 27°C), ushering in a more summer-like feel. The warm-up intensifies into Thursday, with highs likely reaching the mid-80s°F (29°C).
Next rain chance arrives by the end of the week
The next weather system enters southeast Michigan by Friday, bringing renewed chances for rain and a few thunderstorms. Highs will settle into the lower 80s°F (27°C). By Saturday, temperatures ease slightly into the upper 70s°F (25–26°C), with scattered storms possible at the start of the weekend.
