Brief relief from humidity across Arkansas
A temporary drop in humidity is bringing some comfort across Arkansas starting tonight, Tuesday, June 10, and lasting into Wednesday, June 11. As drier air filters into the region, expect high temperatures to stay in the mid to upper 80s°F (approximately 29–31°C) under mostly sunny skies. This brief window of relief will offer a much-needed pause from the oppressive humidity levels that dominated the weekend.
More storms and rain by Thursday
Starting Thursday, June 12, a moisture-laden air mass will begin to move back into the state, as an upper-level low pressure system sets up nearby. This shift will lead to scattered thunderstorms and increased cloud coverage across much of Arkansas, especially during the afternoon hours. Some of these showers and storms could linger into the evening, though they’ll generally taper off overnight.
Rainfall will not be uniform. Central and southwest Arkansas are expected to experience the heaviest downpours, with locally higher rainfall totals possible in those regions due to repeated rounds of convection.
Humidity and heat build back in next week
As the weekend system clears out early next week, dry conditions are forecast to return. But so will the heat. Expect temperatures to rise significantly, with heat index values climbing to or even surpassing 100°F (approximately 38°C). The combination of heat and humidity could create dangerously high feels-like temperatures, particularly during the afternoon hours in urban areas like Little Rock.
