CLEVELAND, Ohio — The line of powerful storms that swept across Northern Ohio on Wednesday evening brought hurricane-force winds, with gusts peaking at 81 mph (130 km/h) in some locations.
According to FOX 8 Meteorologist Jenn Harcher, the storm system triggered multiple tornado warnings and caused significant wind damage throughout the region. Although the severe weather threat has subsided, the National Weather Service will conduct damage surveys to confirm whether any tornadoes touched down.
In Elyria, the winds were so intense that they toppled a semi truck, illustrating the dangerous strength of the gusts.
Additional storm damage reports have come in from various parts of northeast Ohio, including Vermilion, where Daniel Smith captured striking images of the aftermath.
While the worst of the severe weather has passed, showers and thunderstorms are expected to return later this week.
