Hot Saturday in New Hampshire with persistent mugginess

Saturday, June 21, is bringing oppressive heat to New Hampshire, especially across the central and southern regions, where afternoon highs are soaring above 90°F (32°C). The increasing humidity is making it feel even hotter, pushing heat index values close to 100°F (38°C) in spots like Manchester, Concord, and Nashua.

As the afternoon progresses, there’s a growing chance of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly north of the White Mountains. These storms could bring brief heavy downpours and gusty winds, though most southern and central areas are expected to remain dry through late afternoon.

Another hot day on Sunday with potential storms late

Sunday, June 22, will begin with mostly sunny skies and another round of intense heat, with highs ranging from 88°F to 94°F (31°C to 34°C). The combination of heat and high humidity will make for another uncomfortable day, with feels-like temperatures climbing well into the upper 90s and near 100°F (38°C) across interior valleys.

By late afternoon and into the evening, an approaching front from Quebec will increase cloud cover and spark the development of stronger thunderstorms, especially across northern and central New Hampshire. Some of these storms could produce strong wind gusts and localized downpours.

Early next week: brief break from the heat

Monday, June 23, will bring a temporary drop in temperatures, with highs returning to the upper 70s to low 80s (26°C to 29°C), especially near Lake Winnipesaukee and through the Upper Valley. Humidity levels will also decrease slightly, offering brief relief. However, the summer heat is expected to return by midweek, with another surge of warm air moving in by Wednesday, June 25.
