NASHVILLE, Tennessee – A Code Red Weather Alert has been issued by FOX 17 News as Middle Tennessee braces for an intense heat wave expected to last through at least Thursday, June 26.
Afternoon temperatures will soar into the mid to upper 90s°F (35–37°C), with heat index values potentially surpassing 100°F (38°C). The combination of high humidity and persistent warmth will make overnight relief minimal, placing increased strain on vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly and those without air conditioning.
The National Weather Service has placed many counties in Middle Tennessee under an extreme health risk, citing nonstop heat and humid conditions that could rapidly affect physical well-being.
Each afternoon, there’s a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms, but the overall outlook remains mostly dry, with no expectation of severe weather.
Authorities urge residents to monitor heat exposure, with an emphasis on hydration, avoiding physical exertion during peak heat hours, and checking on neighbors at risk.
