TUCSON, Arizona – As of early Tuesday, June 24, 2025, monsoon moisture is making a notable comeback across southeastern Arizona, bringing with it the first thunderstorms of the 2025 monsoon season.

The humid air mass is gradually spreading across the region and is expected to trigger isolated thunderstorms, especially to the southeast of Tucson. Although most of the storm activity will remain scattered, there’s a real possibility that a storm or two could drift westward and reach Tucson by Tuesday afternoon.

A brief break in the monsoonal pattern is forecasted for Wednesday, when drier air moves into the region. However, by the end of the week, a new surge of moisture is expected to arrive, increasing the potential for additional thunderstorm development into the weekend.

Temperatures across Tucson and surrounding areas will continue to climb into the low 100s Fahrenheit (around 38–40°C) through midweek, with slightly hotter conditions expected toward Friday and into Saturday and Sunday.

In Cochise County, conditions will follow a similar pattern, with sporadic thunderstorm chances and highs also reaching triple digits. The atmosphere is unstable enough to support brief heavy downpours, gusty winds, and localized lightning.

As the monsoon builds, residents across southern Arizona should stay alert for changing weather patterns, especially in the afternoons and early evenings, when thunderstorm activity typically peaks.
