A brief pause in the unsettled weather will arrive across much of southern and central Minnesota on Friday, offering a warm, humid, and mostly dry start to the weekend. After several days of rain and storms, temperatures will rebound into the upper 80s to near 90°F (31–32°C) by Saturday afternoon, under a mix of sun and clouds and a tropical-feeling air mass.
However, this quiet spell will be short-lived. Starting Saturday night, the atmosphere will turn unstable again, with scattered thunderstorms expected to redevelop across the region. Some of these storms may become strong to severe, bringing the potential for large hail and damaging straight-line wind gusts. Residents from Mankato to Rochester and surrounding areas should stay alert to evolving weather alerts.
Sunday remains storm-prone as well, with scattered thunderstorms still possible during the afternoon and evening, although exact timing and coverage remain uncertain.
Looking ahead, long-range models hint at a more settled pattern by mid to late next week, with temperatures returning to seasonal norms in the low 80s°F (around 27°C) and drier conditions gradually developing across Minnesota.
