Sunny Saturday in Phoenix with seasonal highs
PHOENIX, Arizona — This first weekend of July brings classic desert heat to the Valley of the Sun, with temperatures sitting near normal levels for this time of year. Saturday afternoon highs will climb to around 106°F (41°C) under mostly sunny skies, while overnight lows will settle in the mid-80s°F (around 29°C), offering little nighttime relief.
High pressure returns: Temperatures surge beginning Sunday
An expansive ridge of high pressure is beginning to build over Arizona, setting the stage for a significant heat-up across the state. Sunday’s forecast calls for a high near 110°F (43°C) in Phoenix under clear skies, marking the start of a multi-day extreme heat event. Hydration and heat awareness will be critical during outdoor activities as temperatures continue to soar.
Extreme heat alert Monday through Thursday
A First Alert is in effect from Monday through Thursday due to intensifying heat conditions driven by the persistent high-pressure system. Daily highs will remain locked in the 111–115°F range (44–46°C), with overnight lows climbing into the low 90s°F (around 33°C) after Monday. Sunshine will be abundant throughout the period.
Possible record heat by midweek
On Wednesday, temperatures may approach or tie record highs for early July. An extreme heat watch will be in effect across Maricopa County and surrounding areas, continuing into Thursday.
Minimal monsoon in the high country, above-average temperatures expected
Meanwhile, in Arizona’s high country, monsoon storm activity will be limited, focusing only on isolated higher-elevation zones. Despite the altitude, hot temperatures are forecast here as well, with daytime highs running above seasonal averages, signaling that heat risks extend well beyond the desert floor.
