Central Kansas is bracing for a round of evening thunderstorms on Thursday, July 10, with some storms expected to turn strong or severe, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita.
Forecasters say scattered thunderstorms will begin developing around 7:00 p.m., with activity likely stretching into the early hours of Friday, possibly until 2:00 a.m. While not every storm will be dangerous, the potential exists for gusty winds, brief downpours, and hail in a few areas.
Communities across Salina, McPherson, Ellsworth, and Great Bend could see the worst of it, as conditions become increasingly unstable through the evening.
The National Weather Service is reminding residents to have a weather safety plan in place, especially if spending time outdoors Thursday night. Overnight storms can catch people off guard, particularly those who are asleep or at events without immediate access to alerts.
For those in the coverage area, Eagle radio stations—99.9FM KSKG, 910AM, and 107.5FM KINA—will offer live updates if the situation intensifies.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring the NOAA Weather Radio, checking in with local news, and following Saline County and the National Weather Service Wichita on social media.
