TUCSON, Arizona – The scorching heat won’t let up just yet across Southern Arizona, as temperatures are expected to hover around 105°F (40°C) through the entire weekend. But there’s some long-awaited change on the horizon: the monsoon is finally making its way back.
Starting Sunday night, a gradual rise in humidity will begin to take hold across Southeastern Arizona, signaling the return of monsoon moisture. This increase in atmospheric moisture will intensify as we head into the early part of the week, creating the ideal setup for thunderstorm development.
By Tuesday, expect a noticeable shift in the weather pattern. Rain chances will spread across Southern Arizona, including areas like Tucson, Sierra Vista, and Cochise County, with storms likely continuing through Thursday. These showers and thunderstorms will bring much-needed relief from the oppressive heat.
With the arrival of storm activity, daytime highs will drop slightly, settling closer to 100°F (38°C) by midweek, offering some modest cooling compared to the weekend’s extreme heat.
Cochise County will also be part of this active weather shift, with similar rain chances and a cooler trend expected as the week unfolds.
Stay tuned for updated forecasts as Arizona’s monsoon season begins to reassert itself across the region.
