Severe storms sweep through East Texas
Monday morning brought intense weather conditions to East Texas, triggering widespread power outages across the region. As of 10:05 p.m., approximately 3,391 households remain without electricity, according to data collected from the Texas Power Outage Map and shared by local utilities and electric cooperatives.
Hardest-hit areas
Among the counties impacted, Henderson County leads the list with 1,378 outages, followed by Anderson County with 497 and Gregg County with 403 homes in the dark. Other significantly affected areas include:
- Smith County, with 367 outages
- Houston County, reporting 228 homes without power
- Cherokee County, with 165 outages
- Rusk County, where 152 homes are affected
- Angelina County, with 147 outages
Smaller-scale disruptions are noted in Titus, Van Zandt, Polk, Shelby, and Wood Counties, while a few regions like Sabine and San Augustine Counties report no outages at all.

The stormy conditions have been ongoing since the early hours of Monday, causing widespread service interruptions. Power restoration crews are currently assessing damage and working to restore service across the affected areas. Local authorities and emergency management agencies are closely monitoring the situation.
Tyler, located in Smith County, has been one of the focal points of this severe weather event, with nearly 370 homes currently without power.
