Thursday in Philadelphia: clouds lift, sun breaks through
PHILADELPHIA — After a wet and gray Wednesday, residents in the Philadelphia region can expect a brighter, milder Thursday, with temperatures climbing to around 77°F (25°C) during the afternoon. Morning fog and low clouds will gradually dissipate, allowing some sunshine to break through. However, a brief passing shower remains a slight possibility.
Friday’s rain returns, weekend starts cool and unsettled
Looking ahead to Friday, a new storm system is set to bring intermittent rain. The first wave of showers could arrive early in the morning, followed by a second round during the late afternoon and evening. Accumulations may range between 0.5 inch and 1 inch, potentially impacting commutes and outdoor plans.
Saturday will carry over some of that unsettled pattern, with spotty showers mixed with periods of sunshine, and cooler air bringing highs down to 69°F (21°C).
Sunday’s shift: drier air and a warmer trend
By Sunday, a more pleasant and stable weather pattern is expected to develop. Mostly sunny skies and a high near 71°F (22°C) will mark the beginning of a warming trend.
Next week: summer heat sets in
As meteorological summer begins on June 1, the Philadelphia area is likely to experience a seasonal warm-up.
On Monday, temperatures will climb to 76°F (24°C) under mostly sunny skies.
Tuesday will see a significant jump to around 82°F (28°C), and by Wednesday, the thermometer could hit 85°F (29°C), ushering in a genuinely summery feel across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey.
