The Baltimore City Sheriff’s Office confirmed that “most eviction services must be postponed when extreme weather conditions occur.” The law specifically mandates a pause in residential evictions whenever the National Weather Service issues an excessive heat warning.
Such a warning is issued when the Heat Index is forecasted to hit 105°F (41°C) or higher for two or more consecutive days, with overnight lows remaining above 75°F (24°C). These conditions are considered hazardous, especially for individuals without access to reliable air conditioning or cooling centers.
