Windy conditions return to western Montana this Friday, June 27
The wind is back across western Montana, especially along the Rocky Mountain Front and near the Continental Divide. Gusts today may reach 30 to 40 MPH, bringing noticeably blustery conditions throughout the day. While scattered thunderstorms were active yesterday across the region, today’s storms are expected to be more isolated, with activity shifting mostly south and east of Helena.
Temperatures will remain seasonably warm, reaching the upper 70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (25–30 °C) in most areas this afternoon. High wind speeds, however, will be the primary weather impact for much of western Montana today.
Moving into Saturday, the pattern remains breezy, but winds will ease slightly compared to today. Expect a dry day for most of the region, though occasional showers and a few storms may linger near the Hi-Line. Temperatures will be a few degrees cooler, ranging from the mid to upper 70s (24–26 °C).
Sunday brings a shift toward calmer and sunnier conditions, with lighter winds and temperatures climbing into the low to mid-80s Fahrenheit (28–30 °C), offering a warm and pleasant close to the weekend.
The final days of June and the beginning of July are expected to be hot and dry. Highs may push into the 90s Fahrenheit (32–35 °C) across much of the state. While most of Monday and Tuesday will remain dry, isolated thunderstorms could return Tuesday afternoon, especially across the central and southern portions of the state.
Helena temperature records for June 27 show a historic high of 103°F (39°C) in 2015, and a record low of 37°F (3°C) from 1951. The average high and low sit at 79/51°F (26/10°C).
In Great Falls, the warmest June 27 on record was in 1936 with 101°F (38°C), while the coldest morning reached 37°F (3°C) in 1951. The long-term average is 77/48°F (25/9°C).
