First Alert Weather Days remain active for today, Monday, July 1, and tomorrow, Tuesday, July 2, with extreme heat warnings in place. Phoenix is forecast to hit 113°F (45°C), with heat risk levels reaching their peak before a cooling trend begins by midweek.
By late Tuesday, while intense sun and oppressive heat continue, there’s a slight chance of blowing dust and isolated thunderstorm development, especially around the Valley. Though rain chances remain low, outflow winds from distant thunderstorms could kick up dust storms, creating hazardous visibility conditions.
Wednesday night looks to be the most promising window for storm activity in the Phoenix metro area, though probabilities stay below 30% in the most reliable forecast models. If storms do form, they are expected to arrive at sunset or later, bringing gusty winds, brief rainfall, and lightning.
As we move into Thursday and the Fourth of July weekend, the atmosphere begins to dry out rapidly. Expect temperatures to dip below seasonal averages, with mostly clear skies and reduced humidity prevailing through the holiday.
Meanwhile, southeastern Arizona and mountainous areas should see more active monsoon patterns, with scattered thunderstorms more likely in those regions through midweek.
