Bryan, Texas – A developing storm system in Central Texas is on track to move across Southeast Texas and the Brazos Valley throughout the day, bringing the potential for scattered thunderstorms, heavy rain, and isolated strong wind gusts through at least early evening.
As the day heats up, localized storms have already started popping up ahead of the main line. The later we get into the afternoon, the higher the chances for more widespread rainfall. The biggest concerns right now are flash flooding in flood-prone areas and strong wind gusts along the leading edge of the storm complex.
This system, though expected to weaken as it moves east, could still deliver another round of storms before the weekend wraps up. Rainfall totals by Monday could range from 1 to 2 inches (25-50 mm) across much of the region, with some isolated spots potentially picking up 4 inches (over 100 mm) or more—especially if storms stall or repeatedly track over the same locations.
As we head into the new week, the pattern doesn’t shift much. Afternoon downpours remain in the forecast through at least Wednesday, though storm coverage may start to taper off after Monday. Still, with plenty of moisture lingering in the atmosphere, pop-up storms can’t be ruled out during the hottest parts of the day.
