Meanwhile, eastern New Mexico<\/strong> has seen over an inch of rainfall<\/strong>, with scattered showers<\/strong> and thunderstorms<\/strong> spreading throughout much of the state by Tuesday afternoon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The snow level is hovering around 8,000 feet<\/strong>, meaning higher elevations in northern New Mexico<\/strong> are experiencing heavy snow<\/strong>, while valleys and lower terrain are getting steady rain<\/strong>. A Flood Watch<\/strong> remains in effect for northern and northeastern New Mexico<\/strong> through 6 PM<\/strong>, and a Winter Storm Warning<\/strong> continues until 10 PM<\/strong> in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains<\/strong>. Rainfall amounts are expected to be lower<\/strong>, and the atmosphere will begin warming<\/strong> slowly after a stretch of below-average temperatures<\/strong>. The warming trend<\/strong> will become more noticeable by Thursday<\/strong> and Friday<\/strong>, with drier conditions<\/strong> and just a few afternoon thunderstorms<\/strong>, primarily over the mountain areas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Looking ahead: weekend showers, Mother’s Day sunshine<\/strong><\/p>\n Another active system<\/strong> is set to impact the state Saturday afternoon<\/strong>, bringing a higher chance for showers and storms<\/strong>, particularly across western<\/strong>, northern<\/strong>, and central New Mexico<\/strong>. As usual, the mountains<\/strong> will bear the brunt of the heaviest precipitation<\/strong>. Temperatures will continue climbing<\/strong>, reaching above-average highs<\/strong> by Sunday<\/strong>, just in time for Mother\u2019s Day<\/strong>.
