Severe weather outlook for Wednesday<\/strong><\/p>\n Parts of South Texas<\/strong>, particularly along the Gulf Coast<\/strong>, are facing a level 2 out of 5 risk<\/strong> for severe thunderstorms<\/strong> today, according to the Storm Prediction Center<\/strong> of the National Weather Service<\/strong>. This includes cities such as Beaumont<\/strong>, Houston<\/strong>, Victoria<\/strong>, Port Lavaca<\/strong>, and Corpus Christi<\/strong>. These areas are most at risk for storms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Dallas\u2013Fort Worth<\/strong> area and parts of North Texas<\/strong> remain under a low severe threat<\/strong>, but storms there are expected to be isolated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Two storm rounds expected<\/strong><\/p>\n The day will be split into two distinct waves of thunderstorm activity<\/strong>:<\/p>\n The first round<\/strong>, arriving between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m.<\/strong>, will mainly affect areas just north of the Gulf Coast<\/strong>. This morning cluster<\/strong> is expected to pass quickly, leaving behind partly sunny skies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n As the atmosphere warms and destabilizes<\/strong> through midday, a second round<\/strong> of scattered storms<\/strong> could ignite during the afternoon and evening<\/strong> hours. These later storms, while less widespread<\/strong>, could still produce severe conditions<\/strong> if they develop.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n San Antonio and surrounding areas<\/strong><\/p>\n San Antonio<\/strong> will see only about a 20% chance<\/strong> of thunderstorms. Most neighborhoods will stay dry<\/strong>, but any storm that forms<\/strong> could bring strong gusts<\/strong> and hail<\/strong> due to the unstable air mass.<\/p>\n Morning temperatures will start in the mid to upper 60s\u00b0F<\/strong> (around 18\u201320\u00b0C<\/strong>), climbing to near 80\u00b0F<\/strong> (about 27\u00b0C<\/strong>) by midday, and peaking in the mid-80s\u00b0F<\/strong> (around 29\u00b0C<\/strong>) in the afternoon\u2014typical for early May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Looking ahead: Thursday through the weekend<\/strong><\/p>\n On Thursday<\/strong>, expect partly sunny skies<\/strong> with highs in the mid-80s\u00b0F<\/strong> (around 29\u00b0C<\/strong>). Storm chances increase west of the city<\/strong>, especially in Del Rio<\/strong>, Uvalde<\/strong>, and Laredo<\/strong>, while San Antonio<\/strong> retains a 20\u201330% chance<\/strong> of scattered late-day storms.<\/p>\n Friday<\/strong> brings drier air from the north<\/strong>, sweeping away storm chances and leaving the region with mostly sunny skies<\/strong> and temperatures from the mid-60s\u00b0F<\/strong> (around 18\u00b0C<\/strong>) in the morning to the lower to mid-80s\u00b0F<\/strong> (about 27\u201329\u00b0C<\/strong>) in the afternoon.<\/p>\n The weekend<\/strong> looks pleasant and seasonable<\/strong>. Early morning lows<\/strong> will dip into the upper 50s to lower 60s\u00b0F<\/strong> (around 14\u201317\u00b0C<\/strong>), with daytime highs<\/strong> remaining in the lower to mid-80s\u00b0F<\/strong> (about 27\u201329\u00b0C<\/strong>).
