Residents across both the western and southern regions<\/strong> of the state are urged to stay alert as conditions remain volatile.<\/strong><\/p>\n A tornado watch remains active until 9 p.m. EDT<\/strong> today for eight counties located west and northwest of Indianapolis<\/strong>. The affected counties include Benton, Fountain, Montgomery, Parke, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, Vigo<\/strong> and Warren<\/strong>. Key cities<\/strong> under this alert are Crawfordsville<\/strong>, Lafayette<\/strong>, Terre Haute<\/strong>, and West Lafayette<\/strong>.<\/p>\n According to the latest data, this area faces the possibility of a few tornadoes<\/strong>, hail reaching 2 inches in diameter<\/strong>, and wind gusts up to 70 mph<\/strong>. A tornado warning<\/strong> was issued earlier this evening around 6:40 p.m.<\/strong> for Vermillion and Warren counties<\/strong>, though it was cancelled approximately 25 minutes later<\/strong>. Despite at least three tornado warnings<\/strong> in the region tonight, the National Weather Service had not received reports of damage or injuries<\/strong> as of 8 p.m.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n A second tornado watch<\/strong>, effective until 11 p.m. EDT<\/strong>, covers southern counties<\/strong> of Gibson, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh<\/strong>, and Warrick<\/strong>. This broader alert also includes a county in southern Illinois<\/strong>, much of western Kentucky and Tennessee<\/strong>, and parts of northern Alabama<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The main threats<\/strong> in this region include likely tornadoes<\/strong>, tennis ball-sized hail<\/strong>, and scattered gusts approaching 70 mph<\/strong>.
