And while it hasn\u2019t rained every<\/em> day of every weekend, the Saturdays and Sundays<\/strong> of recent weeks have been consistently wetter, making the rain seem like a regular guest at the end of the week.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Challenges for farmers and gardeners<\/strong><\/p>\n These frequent and heavy rains<\/strong> have posed serious challenges to farmers and home gardeners<\/strong>. Oversaturated soil has delayed planting<\/strong>, increased the spread of fungal diseases<\/strong>, and washed away nutrients<\/strong>, all while making it harder for young roots to establish<\/strong>. Sudden weather swings \u2014 from chilly rain to dry, windy spells<\/strong> \u2014 have only added stress to crops and soil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A break from wildfire danger \u2014 for now<\/strong><\/p>\n Despite some windy dry days<\/strong>, the Maine Forest Service<\/strong> reported that by May 13<\/strong>, the entire state was classified as being at low wildfire risk<\/strong>.
