While southern parts of the region<\/strong> experienced windswept rain<\/strong>, northern elevations<\/strong> told a wintry story.<\/p>\n At the summit of Mount Washington<\/strong>, in New Hampshire<\/strong>, researchers at the Mount Washington Observatory<\/strong> measured a total of 4.1 inches (10.4 cm)<\/strong> of new snow<\/strong> by Friday morning<\/strong>. In addition to the accumulation, images from the summit revealed rime ice<\/strong> and glazing<\/strong> on nearby surfaces, including a New Hampshire State Parks vehicle<\/strong>. This coating resulted from freezing rain and fog<\/strong> interacting with sub-freezing air at elevation.<\/p>\n Forecasters from the observatory anticipate continued snowfall through Friday<\/strong>, with an additional 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.6 cm)<\/strong> expected. There\u2019s also concern about a quarter-inch (0.6 cm)<\/strong> of ice accumulation<\/strong> due to ongoing freezing rain<\/strong>. Without an official total<\/strong>, conditions were described as \u201cpretty white up top.\u201d<\/strong> Still, the light accumulation<\/strong> was not enough to support skiing<\/strong>, though a few adventurous hikers<\/strong> were spotted navigating the snow-covered terrain.<\/p>\n Snow showers were predicted to persist through Friday<\/strong>, with highs hovering in the low 30s Fahrenheit (around -1 to 1 \u00b0C)<\/strong>. Winds were calmer than on Mount Washington, blowing at 10 to 15 mph<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Wider impacts across Massachusetts<\/strong><\/p>\n The nor\u2019easter didn\u2019t stop with snow.
