Severe thunderstorms shake Central Texas Wednesday evening<\/strong><\/p>\n Heavy rain and hail<\/strong> pounded Central Texas<\/strong> on Wednesday evening<\/strong>, as severe thunderstorms<\/strong> swept through Austin<\/strong> and surrounding areas. The National Weather Service<\/strong> had issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch<\/strong> for all metro counties<\/strong> around Austin<\/strong> and the Hill Country<\/strong>, warning of strong storm development.<\/p>\n Residents across the region<\/strong> shared dramatic images and videos of the weather, capturing hailstorms<\/strong>, downpours<\/strong>, and damage<\/strong> left behind.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Hailfall hits multiple locations<\/strong><\/p>\n Hail<\/strong> was reported in a wide area, including Cedar Park<\/strong>, Leander<\/strong>, and Windsor Park<\/strong>. In Burnet County<\/strong>, between Burnet<\/strong> and Bertram<\/strong>, and three miles south of Bertram<\/strong>, large hailstones were seen littering roads and yards. Front lawns<\/strong> were blanketed in ice pellets<\/strong>, as shown in photos from local residents.<\/p>\n A particularly vivid video, taken by Casey Legg<\/strong>, showed hailstones plopping into a backyard pool in Leander<\/strong>, underlining the intensity of the storm.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Storms cause tree damage across neighborhoods<\/strong><\/p>\n Alongside the hail, the storms brought down trees<\/strong> and branches<\/strong> across multiple neighborhoods. In Crestview<\/strong>, a tree was reported down in a resident\u2019s yard. At the intersection of McNeil Drive and Highway 620<\/strong>, another tree snapped. Damage was also seen on Tillery Street<\/strong>, where a large branch split, and at 16th Street and Ulit Avenue<\/strong>, where another tree collapsed under the storm\u2019s pressure.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thunderstorm watch extended and more storms expected<\/strong><\/p>\n Meteorologist Nick Bannin<\/strong> from KXAN<\/strong> announced that the Severe Thunderstorm Watch<\/strong> would stay active until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday<\/strong>, with more storms likely into Thursday evening<\/strong>.
