South Jersey<\/strong> is catching its breath after a tornado watch<\/strong> was officially lifted just after midnight on Friday, May 31<\/strong>, but residents and travelers<\/strong> should remain vigilant into the early hours of Saturday<\/strong> due to continued risks from flooding and strong winds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The National Weather Service<\/strong> has placed Camden, Gloucester, Salem<\/strong>, and northwestern Burlington counties<\/strong> under a flood watch<\/strong> until 8 a.m. Saturday<\/strong>. The agency warned that excessive rainfall<\/strong> may still result in flash flooding<\/strong>, especially near rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas<\/strong> across the region.<\/p>\n A flash flood warning<\/strong> was already in effect earlier, through 3:45 a.m.<\/strong>, for several towns along the Delaware River<\/strong>, where runoff from earlier storms<\/strong> is still making its way downstream. While the skies may have calmed, underground saturation<\/strong> and rising stream levels<\/strong> mean water hazards<\/strong> are far from over.<\/p>\n Even as the tornado threat<\/strong> fades, a wind advisory<\/strong> remains active for South Jersey<\/strong> from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday<\/strong>. Expect sustained winds between 20 to 30 mph (32 to 48 km\/h)<\/strong>, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph (80 km\/h)<\/strong>. These conditions could lead to downed tree limbs<\/strong>, localized power outages<\/strong>, and dangerous driving situations\u2014especially for high-profile vehicles<\/strong> and along coastal roadways<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The severe weather also forced the suspension of the Morey’s Pier Beach Jam<\/strong> in Wildwood<\/strong>, a beloved camping event<\/strong> hosted on the beach. By Friday evening<\/strong>, Wildwood police<\/strong> advised all campers to remove tents and vacate the beach<\/strong> as a precaution.
