Thursday: marginal risk for severe storms<\/strong><\/p>\n Most of Alabama<\/em> remains under a Level 1 out of 5<\/strong> (marginal) severe weather risk<\/strong> for Thursday<\/strong>, according to the NOAA Storm Prediction Center<\/strong>. This risk zone<\/strong> primarily covers the southern<\/strong> and northwestern<\/strong> parts of the state. While these storms are expected to be isolated<\/strong>, they could bring damaging wind gusts<\/strong> and hail<\/strong>.<\/p>\n As of Thursday morning<\/strong>, rain<\/strong> and thunderstorms<\/strong> were already moving across much of Alabama<\/em>. These unsettled conditions are expected to continue through the evening<\/strong>, with stronger storms<\/strong> posing the greatest threat into Thursday night<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Friday: stronger storms, especially in the southeast<\/strong><\/p>\n Friday\u2019s forecast<\/strong> features a heightened risk<\/strong>, particularly for southeast Alabama<\/strong>, which is now under a Level 2 (slight) risk<\/strong>. This upgraded category means there is a potential for scattered severe thunderstorms<\/strong>, with hail<\/strong> and damaging winds<\/strong> again being the primary hazards. The most intense storms are forecast to develop during the afternoon and evening hours<\/strong> as a cold front<\/strong> progresses through the region.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the southern<\/strong> and eastern parts of central Alabama<\/strong>, as well as the rest of the south<\/strong>, remain under a Level 1 risk<\/strong>, meaning less widespread but still hazardous<\/strong> weather remains possible.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Saturday brings relief, but north Alabama could see storms Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n By Saturday<\/strong>, the cold front<\/strong> is expected to move out of the state, ushering in drier air<\/strong> and lower humidity<\/strong> for most of Alabama<\/strong>. This change should signal the start of a quieter weather pattern<\/strong> for the weekend<\/strong> and the start of next week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n However, the National Weather Service<\/strong> notes that north Alabama<\/strong> may still experience a few afternoon thunderstorms<\/strong> on Sunday<\/strong>. Even so, no severe weather<\/strong> is anticipated across the state beyond Friday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Humidity levels are forecast to drop this weekend<\/strong>, making for more comfortable conditions<\/strong>, especially across the southern<\/strong> and central regions<\/strong>.
