The most impacted areas include <strong>Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas<\/strong> and <strong>Louisiana<\/strong>, all of which fall under the <strong>highest threat level<\/strong> for the afternoon and evening hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dallas<\/strong>, <strong>Fort Worth<\/strong>, and <strong>Wichita Falls<\/strong> are at the <strong>epicenter of the outbreak<\/strong>, with <strong>Oklahoma City<\/strong>, <strong>Abilene<\/strong>, and <strong>Lubbock<\/strong> facing an <strong>enhanced risk<\/strong>. <strong>Shreveport<\/strong>, <strong>Little Rock<\/strong>, and <strong>Wichita<\/strong> will be at <strong>slight risk<\/strong>, but still face potentially <strong>hazardous conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Destructive straight-line winds and the risk of derechos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Forecasters at the <strong>NWS Storm Prediction Center<\/strong> are closely monitoring conditions favorable for a <strong>derecho<\/strong>, a long-lived, fast-moving thunderstorm complex that brings <strong>intense straight-line winds<\/strong>, frequently exceeding <strong>80 to 100 mph (129 to 160 km\/h)<\/strong>. Such storms often result in <strong>widespread destruction<\/strong>, including <strong>roof damage<\/strong>, <strong>uprooted trees<\/strong>, and <strong>extended power outages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The fast-moving nature of these storms could leave residents with <strong>very little reaction time<\/strong>. The <strong>NWS<\/strong> has emphasized: <strong>&#8220;Do not wait to see or hear the signs of a storm\u2014take action immediately when a warning is issued.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tornadoes and flash flooding also possible<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alongside the high wind threat, meteorologists warn of <strong>a few tornadoes<\/strong>, especially in parts of <strong>central and northern Texas<\/strong> and <strong>southern Oklahoma<\/strong>. These tornadoes may form quickly and be <strong>difficult to spot<\/strong> due to rain-wrapped conditions. Additionally, the <strong>heavy rainfall<\/strong> expected during these storms could lead to <strong>flash flooding<\/strong>, particularly in <strong>low-lying areas<\/strong> and near creeks or small rivers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Storm timing and preparedness<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>severe weather threat<\/strong> is expected to <strong>initiate during early afternoon<\/strong>, with the <strong>greatest intensity between 4 PM and 10 PM local time<\/strong>. By late evening, the <strong>storm system will likely weaken<\/strong> as it moves eastward.
