Southern Connecticut<\/strong> woke up under a special weather statement<\/strong> from the National Weather Service<\/strong>, in effect until 9:00 a.m.<\/strong> on Tuesday, June 10, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Pockets of dense fog<\/strong> have formed across New Haven<\/strong>, Stamford<\/strong>, Stratford<\/strong>, Derby<\/strong>, and nearby areas. Visibility has dropped sharply<\/strong> in some zones, reaching as low as 0.25 miles<\/strong>. This has made morning travel particularly dangerous<\/strong>, especially on major routes such as I-91<\/strong>, I-95<\/strong>, and Route 8<\/strong>, already affected by congestion and emergency roadwork.<\/p>\n

Drivers navigating these areas were advised to use low-beam headlights<\/strong>, reduce speed<\/strong>, and maintain extra space<\/strong> between vehicles.<\/p>\n

Timeline of Tuesday’s storm system<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As Tuesday progressed, meteorologists from WFSB 3 TV<\/strong> highlighted a storm system<\/strong> advancing across Southern Connecticut<\/strong>, increasing the likelihood of rain mixed with embedded thunderstorms<\/strong>. The most intense weather activity was projected between late morning and early afternoon<\/strong>, strategically avoiding both the AM and PM commutes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

From early afternoon through sunset<\/strong>, skies were expected to gradually clear from west to east<\/strong>, though a weak cold front<\/strong> may still trigger an isolated thunderstorm<\/strong> near sundown.<\/p>\n

The temperature<\/strong> was expected to top out in the upper 60s to low 70s<\/strong> (around 68\u201372\u00b0F \/ 20\u201322\u00b0C<\/strong>), with a low-level risk for severe weather<\/strong>. Though rated as a “level one” event<\/strong>, residents were urged to remain alert<\/strong>, especially if skies turned threatening.<\/p>\n

Traffic delays and roadwork impacts<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As of 2:07 p.m. Tuesday<\/strong>, several delays and closures were reported:<\/p>\n

New Haven:<\/strong>
\nA multi-vehicle crash<\/strong> on I-91 Northbound<\/strong> between Exits 8 and 9<\/strong> closed the two left lanes<\/strong>, backing up traffic to Exit 5<\/strong> (1.6 miles total).<\/p>\n

Stamford:<\/strong>
\nI-95 Southbound<\/strong> saw delays between Exits 8 and 6<\/strong>, with congestion stretching nearly 2 miles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Stratford:<\/strong>
\nRoute 113 (Lordship Blvd)<\/strong> remained closed in both directions<\/strong> due to emergency construction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Woodbridge, Derby, Shelton, and Naugatuck<\/strong> also reported lane closures and ramp blockages<\/strong> tied to bridge safety projects<\/strong> and road maintenance<\/strong>, especially on Route 8<\/strong> and Route 15<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
