The <strong>National Weather Service<\/strong> forecasts <strong>rainfall totals of up to 4 inches (102 mm)<\/strong> starting <strong>Wednesday afternoon<\/strong>, with <strong>localized areas potentially receiving up to 7 inches (178 mm)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This heavy rainfall is linked to a <strong>persistent upper-level low<\/strong> moving slowly across the state. <strong>Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms<\/strong> are anticipated through <strong>Wednesday night and Thursday<\/strong>, drifting <strong>east and northeast<\/strong>. Some of these storms could bring <strong>isolated damaging wind gusts and hail<\/strong>, but the <strong>primary hazard<\/strong> is <strong>flash flooding<\/strong>, especially <strong>south of Interstate 20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>North Texas temperatures and ongoing storm risk<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In <strong>North Texas<\/strong>, <strong>high temperatures<\/strong> are expected to stay in the <strong>low 80s \u00b0F (27\u201328 \u00b0C)<\/strong> through <strong>Thursday<\/strong>, gradually warming to near <strong>90 \u00b0F (32 \u00b0C)<\/strong> by the <strong>weekend<\/strong>. Despite the warmth, the <strong>severe weather threat<\/strong> is <strong>low overall<\/strong>, but not absent. Central Texas may experience <strong>more intense conditions<\/strong>, especially Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Severe weather threat for Central Texas along I-10 corridor<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Residents from <strong>San Antonio<\/strong> to areas <strong>east along Interstate 10<\/strong> face a <strong>Level 2 of 5 risk<\/strong> for <strong>scattered severe thunderstorms<\/strong> on <strong>Wednesday<\/strong>. By <strong>Thursday<\/strong>, there is a <strong>greater chance<\/strong> of <strong>damaging winds, torrential rainfall<\/strong>, and <strong>large hail<\/strong>, especially along the <strong>eastern stretch of I-10<\/strong>. The <strong>NWS<\/strong> has warned of the potential for rapid intensification of storms during peak heating hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daytime highs<\/strong> in <strong>Central Texas<\/strong> will likely climb to around <strong>90 \u00b0F (32 \u00b0C)<\/strong>, with temperatures trending back toward the <strong>triple digits<\/strong> by the <strong>weekend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Houston and Southeast Texas monitor heavy urban rainfall<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In <strong>Southeast Texas<\/strong>, including the <strong>Houston metro area<\/strong>, <strong>urban flash flooding<\/strong> is a growing concern. <strong>Bryan<\/strong> and <strong>College Station<\/strong> are already flagged for <strong>elevated flood risk<\/strong>, and <strong>Houston\u2019s dense urban landscape<\/strong> makes it especially vulnerable to <strong>intense rainfall accumulation in short periods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>NWS office in Southeast Texas<\/strong> noted Wednesday morning that <strong>rain performance will dictate updates<\/strong> to the watch status. A <strong>reconfiguration of the existing flood watch<\/strong> is possible depending on <strong>how precipitation evolves throughout the day and into Thursday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As with the rest of the state, the <strong>storm threat in Southeast Texas includes damaging wind gusts and large hail<\/strong>.
