Between <strong>Wednesday evening and Thursday morning<\/strong>, an astonishing <strong>6.37 inches (162 mm)<\/strong> of rain fell at <strong>San Antonio International Airport<\/strong>, eclipsing the previous five-month total in less than 12 hours. This <strong>sudden deluge<\/strong> triggered widespread <strong>flash flooding<\/strong> across <strong>Bexar County<\/strong>, causing significant disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday: A shift toward drier but hotter conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The weather is now <strong>stabilizing<\/strong>, and the <strong>San Antonio metro area<\/strong> is expected to <strong>dry out<\/strong> going into the weekend. On <strong>Friday morning<\/strong>, <strong>temperatures<\/strong> will begin in the <strong>mid-70s \u00b0F (around 24 \u00b0C)<\/strong> under <strong>cloudy skies<\/strong>. As clouds slowly clear through the day, <strong>daytime highs<\/strong> will climb to around <strong>90 \u00b0F (32 \u00b0C)<\/strong> by late afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>However, due to <strong>residual moisture<\/strong> in the soil and air, <strong>humidity levels<\/strong> will surge, pushing <strong>heat index values<\/strong> between <strong>102 \u00b0F and 107 \u00b0F (39 \u00b0C to 42 \u00b0C)<\/strong> across <strong>Central and South Texas<\/strong>. Although <strong>actual temperatures<\/strong> may seem moderate, <strong>feels-like conditions<\/strong> will be oppressive.<\/p>\n<p>There is still a <strong>slight 20% chance<\/strong> for <strong>pop-up showers or thunderstorms<\/strong>, particularly in the <strong>afternoon and evening<\/strong>, but any rainfall is expected to be <strong>isolated<\/strong>. <strong>Heavier showers<\/strong> remain more likely <strong>east of San Antonio<\/strong>, in places like <strong>Victoria<\/strong>, <strong>Houston<\/strong>, and <strong>College Station<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday and Sunday: Dry skies dominate across South Texas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The weekend will bring a <strong>strengthening ridge of high pressure<\/strong> over <strong>West Texas<\/strong> and <strong>New Mexico<\/strong>, ushering in <strong>stable weather<\/strong> for most of <strong>Central and South Texas<\/strong>. Expect <strong>morning lows<\/strong> in the <strong>mid to upper 70s \u00b0F (24\u201326 \u00b0C)<\/strong> and <strong>afternoon highs<\/strong> near <strong>92 \u00b0F (33 \u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Humidity<\/strong>, however, will remain <strong>high<\/strong>, keeping <strong>heat index values<\/strong> around <strong>105 \u00b0F (40 \u00b0C)<\/strong> both days. While most of the region will stay <strong>dry<\/strong>, <strong>southeasterly winds<\/strong> from the <strong>Gulf of Mexico<\/strong> could trigger a <strong>few isolated storms<\/strong> in the afternoons. Still, the <strong>rain chances<\/strong> remain <strong>low\u2014between 10% and 20%<\/strong>, meaning <strong>most areas won\u2019t see another drop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Looking ahead: The start of next week remains dry and hot<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From <strong>Monday through Wednesday<\/strong>, <strong>dry weather<\/strong> is expected to continue with <strong>afternoon highs<\/strong> rising into the <strong>mid to upper 90s \u00b0F (35\u201337 \u00b0C)<\/strong>. <strong>Morning temperatures<\/strong> will hover in the <strong>mid to upper 70s \u00b0F (24\u201326 \u00b0C)<\/strong>.
