DETROIT<\/strong> \u2013 The heat and humidity<\/strong> are building across Southeast Michigan<\/strong> this Tuesday<\/strong>, setting the stage for powerful storms<\/strong> on Wednesday<\/strong>, especially in the Metro Detroit<\/strong> area. Today remains mostly quiet, with partly cloudy skies<\/strong> and temperatures climbing into the mid-80s (around 29\u00b0C)<\/strong>. While a few isolated showers or non-severe thunderstorms<\/strong> may pop up, most of the region will stay dry.<\/p>\n A 4Warn Weather Alert<\/strong> has been issued for Wednesday afternoon and evening<\/strong>, as a potent storm system moves into the region. Southeast Michigan<\/strong> is currently under a slight to enhanced risk<\/strong> for severe weather<\/strong>, and the situation is being closely monitored.<\/p>\n The day may begin with morning and midday thunderstorms<\/strong> tied to a warm front<\/strong> lifting northward. However, the greatest threat for severe weather<\/strong> will emerge late Wednesday afternoon into the evening<\/strong>, as a surface low-pressure system<\/strong> drags a cold front<\/strong> across central Michigan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n All severe hazards are possible:<\/p>\n \u26a0\ufe0f Damaging wind gusts<\/strong> topping 70 mph (over 113 km\/h)<\/strong> Residents across Metro Detroit<\/strong>, Ann Arbor<\/strong>, Flint<\/strong>, and Pontiac<\/strong> should stay weather-aware through Wednesday evening<\/strong>, especially during the commute home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Juneteenth<\/strong> on Thursday<\/strong> starts off with a few pre-dawn showers<\/strong>, but the skies will turn partly cloudy<\/strong> with seasonal highs near 80\u00b0F (27\u00b0C)<\/strong> \u2014 a comfortable break before the heat intensifies again.<\/p>\n On Friday<\/strong>, the summer solstice<\/strong> arrives, and so does the summer heat<\/strong>. Expect mid-80s (around 29\u00b0C)<\/strong>, then near 90\u00b0F (32\u00b0C)<\/strong> on Saturday<\/strong>, and well into the 90s (above 35\u00b0C)<\/strong> from Sunday<\/strong> into the early part of next week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The Ford Fireworks<\/strong> show is scheduled for Monday night<\/strong> in Downtown Detroit<\/strong>, and the current forecast calls for sunny skies and extreme heat<\/strong>.
