COLUMBUS, Ohio \u2014 Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 10:00 p.m. local time<\/strong><\/p>\n Severe weather<\/strong> has been battering central Ohio<\/strong> as powerful thunderstorms<\/strong> push across the region. A severe thunderstorm warning<\/strong> remains active for Coshocton<\/strong>, Guernsey<\/strong>, Hocking<\/strong>, Muskingum<\/strong>, Noble<\/strong>, Perry<\/strong>, Pike<\/strong>, and Ross<\/strong> counties, with additional watches covering most of central<\/strong> and western Ohio<\/strong> until 10 p.m. Wednesday night<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Repeated rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rain<\/strong> have impacted central Ohio<\/strong> over the past few days. A cold front<\/strong>, expected to arrive late Thursday<\/strong>, will finally break this unsettled pattern by ushering in cooler<\/strong> and drier air<\/strong>. However, before that transition, one more line of strong to severe storms<\/strong> is forecast to move in tonight<\/strong>, bringing the potential for hazardous weather<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By sunset<\/strong>, a well-organized line of storms<\/strong> is projected to approach central Ohio<\/strong>, sweeping through the area by midnight<\/strong>. These storms will feed on residual atmospheric instability<\/strong>, which, while waning as the sun sets, will still support the development of strong to severe cells<\/strong>, especially in the western counties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Storm Prediction Center<\/strong> places much of Columbus<\/strong> and points east under a Level 2 out of 5 Slight Risk<\/strong> for severe weather. Areas farther west, including cities like Dayton<\/strong> and Lima<\/strong>, are under a Level 3 out of 5 Enhanced Risk<\/strong>, indicating a greater likelihood of damaging conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The primary threat<\/strong> from tonight\u2019s storms is damaging wind gusts<\/strong>, potentially exceeding 60 mph (96 km\/h)<\/strong>.
