Late Tuesday night<\/strong>, intense storm systems<\/strong> swept across Oklahoma<\/strong>, bringing with them severe winds<\/strong>, hail<\/strong>, and the confirmed formation of two tornadoes<\/strong> in Cherokee County<\/strong>. According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa<\/strong>, these tornadoes touched down after midnight<\/strong>, one southeast of Salina<\/strong> and the other northwest of Tahlequah<\/strong>, following a dramatic escalation in wind activity over eastern Oklahoma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n During the course of Tuesday night<\/strong>, as many as 17 tornado alerts<\/strong> were issued across the state, affecting areas from Edmond<\/strong> to Acadia<\/strong>, where residents experienced pea-sized hail<\/strong> and sudden gusts. In one reported incident, a tree fell onto a home<\/strong> near 96th Street<\/strong>, reflecting the type of scattered but impactful destruction seen overnight.<\/p>\n The aftermath of the storms left more than 20,000 residents<\/strong> without power on Wednesday morning<\/strong>, particularly in northern<\/strong> and north-central Oklahoma<\/strong>. While this represents less than 1%<\/strong> of the state’s total population, the outages have added a layer of disruption in already affected regions.<\/p>\n As of early Wednesday<\/strong>, weather experts are continuing to monitor developing systems<\/strong> while damage assessment teams from the NWS<\/strong> carry out field evaluations.
