Severe weather<\/strong> swept through Memphis<\/strong> early Thursday morning<\/strong>, knocking out electricity to more than 12,000 customers<\/strong> of Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLGW)<\/strong>. As of this morning<\/strong>, 12,577 residents<\/strong> remain without power across the Mid-South<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Most of the region<\/strong> is currently under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5)<\/strong> for severe storms<\/strong>, with the National Weather Service<\/strong> issuing a flash flood warning<\/strong> for both Shelby County<\/strong> and Tipton County<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The damaging weather system moved through during the early hours, triggering widespread outages and potential hazards. Heavy rain<\/strong>, strong winds<\/strong>, and lightning<\/strong> were reported across parts of Tennessee<\/strong>, with several power lines<\/strong> and trees<\/strong> brought down by the storms.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

MLGW<\/strong> encourages residents to use the MLGW outage map<\/strong> available at mlgw.com<\/strong> or via the MLGW mobile app<\/strong> to monitor outages and report new ones. For emergencies involving downed power lines<\/strong>, customers are urged to call (901) 528-4465<\/strong> and to keep a safe distance, treating all lines as live and dangerous<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Current temperatures in Memphis<\/strong> are hovering near 75\u00b0F (24\u00b0C)<\/strong> with high humidity, and additional rounds of rain<\/strong> and isolated thunderstorms<\/strong> are possible through the rest of Thursday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
