Here, we might see a double waterspout once every few years\u2014but it\u2019s still rare.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These <strong>marine twisters<\/strong>, which resemble <strong>tornadoes over water<\/strong>, form when <strong>cool downdrafts from thunderstorms<\/strong> interact with a <strong>sea breeze<\/strong>. As <strong>winds from various directions converge<\/strong>, they can start to <strong>rotate<\/strong>, forming a vertical <strong>column of spinning air<\/strong>. If a spout moves ashore, it may transform into a <strong>dangerous tornado<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Sunday<\/strong>, however, both spouts remained over water and posed no threat. <strong>\u201cThat was the important thing,\u201d<\/strong> added <strong>Shiveley<\/strong>. <strong>\u201cNo reports of impacts on boaters\u2014nothing dangerous.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first waterspout was reported around <strong>5:30 p.m.<\/strong>, with the second emerging just <strong>five to ten minutes later<\/strong>. <strong>Both had dissipated by 6:00 p.m.<\/strong>, according to the <strong>Ruskin forecast office<\/strong>. Nonetheless, <strong>photos and videos<\/strong> of the swirling phenomena <strong>spread rapidly across social media<\/strong>, capturing the awe of those fortunate enough to witness the rare twin display.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThese weren\u2019t your typical pencil-thin waterspouts,\u201d<\/strong> noted <strong>Shiveley<\/strong>. <strong>\u201cThey were pretty well-developed. That\u2019s what made them stand out.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What makes this event even more notable is that the <strong>current atmospheric conditions<\/strong> around <strong>Tampa Bay<\/strong> don\u2019t favor frequent spout formation. Usually, <strong>morning hours<\/strong> and <strong>southwesterly or westerly winds<\/strong> are ideal for waterspouts.
