Strong storms expected today across much of Alabama<\/strong><\/p>\n Wednesday, June 26, 2025 \u2013 NEW YORK (10:00 AM EDT)<\/strong> \u2013 Much of Alabama<\/strong> faces the threat of strong to severe thunderstorms<\/strong> today, with conditions expected to remain unstable<\/strong> through Friday<\/strong>. According to the NOAA Storm Prediction Center<\/strong>, today’s severe weather risk<\/strong> places most of eastern and southern Alabama<\/strong> under a Level 2 out of 5<\/strong> (slight) category. Central Alabama<\/strong> and areas outside the northwestern corner<\/strong> are under a Level 1 (marginal)<\/strong> risk.<\/p>\n These storms<\/strong>, tracking from east to west<\/strong>, are anticipated to develop in Georgia<\/strong> before entering Alabama<\/strong> this afternoon. The National Weather Service<\/strong> highlights the threat of damaging straight-line winds<\/strong>, hail<\/strong>, and heavy downpours<\/strong>. Tornadoes<\/strong> are not expected at this time.<\/p>\n Afternoon temperatures<\/strong> will climb into the low to mid 90s\u00b0F (33\u201335\u00b0C)<\/strong>, with high humidity<\/strong> making it feel even hotter. Damaging gusts<\/strong>, hail<\/strong>, and torrential rain<\/strong> remain the primary hazards. Storms will once again be most active during the afternoon and evening<\/strong>, driven by daytime heating<\/strong> and lingering humidity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The weekend: Storm chances continue, but lower risk<\/strong><\/p>\n While no formal severe weather risk<\/strong> has been issued for Saturday<\/strong> and Sunday<\/strong>, the National Weather Service<\/strong> forecasts daily chances for scattered afternoon storms<\/strong>.
