After several scorching days, the extreme heat gripping North Jersey is finally starting to break<\/strong>, according to the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service in New York<\/strong>.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, June 25<\/strong>, an excessive heat warning<\/strong> remained in effect through 7 p.m.<\/strong> for much of New Jersey<\/strong>, including Sussex<\/strong> and Morris counties<\/strong>, with a heat advisory<\/strong> issued for Bergen<\/strong> and Passaic counties<\/strong>. Temperatures soared between 94 and 98 degrees Fahrenheit (34.4 – 36.6 \u00b0C)<\/strong> across much of the region, with the heat index surpassing 100\u00b0F (37.7 \u00b0C)<\/strong> in several locations.<\/p>\n According to the NWS Mount Holly office<\/strong>, a noticeable drop in heat<\/strong> will begin on Wednesday, June 26<\/strong>, though the cooler air will bring increased cloud cover<\/strong> and a higher chance of rain and thunderstorms<\/strong>, especially during the afternoon and evening hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Thursday, June 27<\/strong>, and the following days are expected to remain unsettled<\/strong>, with frequent showers<\/strong>, stormy conditions<\/strong>, and a decline in temperatures<\/strong>. While the air will feel less oppressive<\/strong>, the weather will likely stay cloudy and unstable through the weekend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Wednesday, June 26<\/strong> will bring mostly cloudy skies<\/strong>, with a high near 79\u00b0F (26.1 \u00b0C)<\/strong> and an overnight low around 64\u00b0F (17.7 \u00b0C)<\/strong>.
