While <strong>upper-level conditions<\/strong> are not ideal for rapid intensification, there\u2019s still a <strong>slight chance of tropical formation<\/strong> before this system moves inland over <strong>eastern Mexico<\/strong> early next week.<\/p>\n<p>Forecast models suggest that <strong>Invest 91L<\/strong> will likely <strong>come ashore by Monday or Tuesday<\/strong>, bringing with it <strong>locally heavy rainfall<\/strong>, especially to <strong>Veracruz<\/strong>, <strong>Tabasco<\/strong>, and surrounding areas. While this system is unlikely to reach the strength of a hurricane, <strong>localized flash flooding<\/strong> and <strong>mudslides<\/strong> are possible in areas with poor drainage.<\/p>\n<p>If this disturbance organizes into a named tropical storm, it would take the name <strong>Barry<\/strong>, the next on the <strong>2025 Atlantic list<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Pacific storm near southern Mexico may become Flossie<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To the south, <strong>Invest 95E<\/strong> is showing <strong>increased potential for development<\/strong> several hundred miles off the <strong>coast of southeastern Mexico<\/strong>, near <strong>Oaxaca<\/strong> and <strong>Chiapas<\/strong>. This area of disturbed weather is expected to <strong>drift slowly northwestward<\/strong> along the <strong>Pacific coastline<\/strong> over the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>Current projections indicate that <strong>Invest 95E<\/strong> could strengthen into a <strong>tropical storm by early next week<\/strong>, potentially earning the name <strong>Flossie<\/strong>. Atmospheric conditions are becoming more favorable for gradual development, though the system remains somewhat <strong>disorganized<\/strong> this weekend. Confidence in model outputs is still low, in part due to this scattered structure.<\/p>\n<p>Should this system intensify, <strong>tropical moisture<\/strong> from it could be drawn <strong>northward into the Southwestern United States<\/strong>, feeding into the <strong>early monsoon season<\/strong> over parts of <strong>Arizona<\/strong>, <strong>New Mexico<\/strong>, and even <strong>southern California<\/strong> before <strong>July 4th<\/strong>. While <strong>no direct landfall<\/strong> in the <strong>U.S.<\/strong> is anticipated, <strong>enhanced humidity and isolated downpours<\/strong> are possible as early as <strong>next Wednesday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Outlook for early July: tropics warming up<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The broader setup this weekend shows <strong>an uptick in moisture<\/strong> across both the <strong>Caribbean<\/strong> and <strong>eastern Pacific<\/strong>, signaling the <strong>beginning of a more active tropical phase<\/strong> heading into <strong>early July<\/strong>.
