The <strong>system currently holds a low probability<\/strong> of becoming a <strong>tropical or subtropical cyclone<\/strong> \u2014 only <strong>20% over the next seven days<\/strong>, and <strong>near 0% within 48 hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>While the system lacks organization at the moment, it is expected to <strong>stall across the state<\/strong>, stretching from the <strong>northeastern Gulf of Mexico<\/strong> to the <strong>Atlantic waters off the southeastern United States<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Whether or not the system becomes a named storm<\/strong>, <strong>increased rainfall<\/strong>, <strong>strong gusts<\/strong>, and <strong>choppy surf<\/strong> are forecast to affect <strong>Florida<\/strong> throughout the week, particularly along the <strong>Gulf Coast<\/strong> and <strong>Atlantic shoreline<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Will Naples and Collier County feel the impact?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>According to the <strong>Florida Department of Emergency Management<\/strong>, there&#8217;s <strong>no direct threat to Florida at this time<\/strong>, but <strong>local effects<\/strong> such as <strong>heavy downpours<\/strong>, <strong>brief strong winds<\/strong>, and <strong>dangerous rip currents<\/strong> could emerge <strong>later this week<\/strong> and into the <strong>weekend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Meteorologists emphasize that <strong>beachgoers from Northern Florida<\/strong> down through the <strong>Panhandle<\/strong> and across to the <strong>Carolinas<\/strong> should remain vigilant. As explained by <strong>AccuWeather lead hurricane expert Alex DaSilva<\/strong>, a <strong>cold front dipping southward midweek<\/strong> may act as a <strong>trigger for cyclonic development<\/strong> either <strong>in the eastern Gulf<\/strong> or <strong>off the Southeast coast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wind shear is expected to stay relatively low<\/strong>, and <strong>sea surface temperatures across the Gulf of Mexico are running above seasonal averages<\/strong>, both of which <strong>support gradual development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Naples 4th of July forecast: Prepare for afternoon storms<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>National Weather Service in Miami<\/strong> released the following <strong>forecast for Naples and Collier County<\/strong> as of <strong>June 30, 2025<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, July 4<\/strong>: <strong>Showers and thunderstorms are likely<\/strong>, primarily <strong>after 2 p.m.<\/strong> Skies will be <strong>partly sunny<\/strong>, with a <strong>high around 90\u00b0F (32\u00b0C)<\/strong>. Winds will be <strong>light and variable<\/strong>, shifting to the <strong>southwest at approximately 6 mph<\/strong> during the afternoon. The <strong>chance of precipitation is 70%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday night<\/strong>: <strong>Thunderstorms and showers may continue<\/strong>, particularly <strong>before 8 p.m.<\/strong> Conditions will be <strong>mostly cloudy<\/strong>, with an overnight <strong>low near 72\u00b0F (22\u00b0C)<\/strong>. <strong>Rain probability sits at 60%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Tropical Storm Barry fizzles out as eyes turn to Chantal<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Over the <strong>past weekend<\/strong>, the <strong>second named storm<\/strong> of the 2025 <strong>Atlantic hurricane season<\/strong>, <strong>Tropical Storm Barry<\/strong>, made <strong>landfall in Veracruz, Mexico<\/strong>, on <strong>Sunday, June 29<\/strong>, before weakening to a <strong>remnant low by Monday morning<\/strong>. Despite losing strength, <strong>Barry continues to deliver torrential rains<\/strong> to parts of <strong>eastern Mexico<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>next named storm<\/strong> on the <strong>2025 list<\/strong> will be <strong>Chantal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Atlantic hurricane season status and terminology<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>Atlantic hurricane season<\/strong> officially spans from <strong>June 1 through November 30<\/strong>, and <strong>97% of tropical activity<\/strong> occurs within this window. According to <strong>NOAA<\/strong>, the <strong>peak of hurricane season<\/strong> is <strong>September 10<\/strong>, with the <strong>most frequent activity<\/strong> occurring <strong>between mid-August and mid-October<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>NHC<\/strong> uses the umbrella term <strong>&#8220;tropical cyclone&#8221;<\/strong> to describe any <strong>rotating, organized weather system<\/strong> over <strong>tropical or subtropical waters<\/strong> that has a <strong>closed surface circulation<\/strong>.
