Heatwave triggers orange and yellow alerts nationwide<\/strong><\/h3>\n

An orange alert<\/strong> \u2014 indicating significant risk<\/strong> due to extreme heat<\/strong> \u2014 has been issued for Andalusia<\/strong>, Aragon<\/strong>, Castilla-La Mancha<\/strong>, Catalonia<\/strong>, Extremadura<\/strong>, Galicia<\/strong>, Madrid<\/strong>, Navarre<\/strong>, Basque Country<\/strong>, La Rioja<\/strong>, and the Valencian Community<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a yellow alert<\/strong> \u2014 highlighting moderate risk for specific activities<\/strong> \u2014 affects Asturias<\/strong>, the Balearic Islands<\/strong>, Cantabria<\/strong>, Castilla y Le\u00f3n<\/strong>, Murcia<\/strong>, and the Canary Islands<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the Canary Islands<\/strong>, Gran Canaria<\/strong> could see highs of 93\u00b0F (34\u00b0C)<\/strong>, alongside powerful wind gusts<\/strong> of up to 44 mph (70 km\/h)<\/strong> across several islands, maintaining a yellow wind alert<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Extremely high temperatures expected across the peninsula<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Across continental Spain<\/strong>, maximum temperatures<\/strong> will fluctuate between 99\u00b0F (37\u00b0C)<\/strong> and 108\u00b0F (42\u00b0C)<\/strong>. In the Basque Country<\/strong>, especially the inland areas of Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia<\/strong>, as well as in the Cuenca mountains<\/strong> and the Huesca Pyrenees<\/strong>, highs of 99\u00b0F (37\u00b0C)<\/strong> are expected.<\/p>\n

The hottest conditions<\/strong> will strike Andalusia<\/strong> and Extremadura<\/strong>, particularly in C\u00f3rdoba<\/strong> and Seville\u2019s countryside<\/strong>, the Guadalquivir Valley<\/strong> in Ja\u00e9n<\/strong>, and regions like Morena<\/strong>, Condado<\/strong>, and the Guadiana lowlands in Badajoz<\/strong>, where temperatures will climb to 108\u00b0F (42\u00b0C)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Huelva<\/strong> will also suffer intense heat, with Aracena<\/strong>, And\u00e9valo<\/strong>, and Condado<\/strong> reaching up to 106\u00b0F (41\u00b0C)<\/strong>. Similarly, the inland south of Valencia<\/strong> will record triple-digit temperatures<\/strong>, with overnight lows<\/strong> remaining uncomfortably high<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Severe heat will also affect Lleida<\/strong> and Tarragona<\/strong> in Catalonia<\/strong>, the Ebro valley in Zaragoza<\/strong>, the southern region of Huesca<\/strong>, and areas of Badajoz<\/strong> like the Extremaduran Siberia<\/strong>, Barros<\/strong>, and La Serena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hailstorms and intense wind in northern and central regions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Alongside the scorching heat<\/strong>, severe thunderstorms<\/strong> are approaching. The AEMET<\/strong> warns that these storms may bring hail<\/strong> and very strong wind gusts<\/strong> to several regions, with the most affected areas<\/strong> expected to be Madrid<\/strong>, Castilla y Le\u00f3n<\/strong>, Asturias<\/strong>, Cantabria<\/strong>, Catalonia<\/strong>, and parts of Galicia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
