As millions across the <strong>Sunshine State<\/strong> gear up for fireworks, beach outings, and barbecues, forecasters from the <strong>National Hurricane Center (NHC)<\/strong> and <strong>National Weather Service (NWS)<\/strong> are warning of <strong>unsettled weather<\/strong>, with potential for a developing low-pressure system near the coast.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Low-pressure area may develop off the Southeast coast<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>According to the <strong>NHC outlook<\/strong> released on <strong>Monday, June 30<\/strong>, a <strong>stationary front<\/strong> off the <strong>Southeastern U.S.<\/strong> is expected to weaken heading into the weekend, possibly forming a <strong>low-pressure zone<\/strong> either off the <strong>Atlantic coast of Florida<\/strong> or over the <strong>eastern Gulf of Mexico<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>While the chance of tropical or subtropical cyclone development in the next <strong>48 hours<\/strong> remains <strong>zero<\/strong>, the <strong>NHC<\/strong> has assigned a <strong>20% chance<\/strong> of formation within the next <strong>seven days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Forecasters noted that the disturbance could remain <strong>nearly stationary<\/strong> as it slowly becomes more organized, raising the risk of <strong>prolonged, widespread rainfall<\/strong> across the region.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Rainy holiday weekend expected across much of Florida<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>National Weather Service<\/strong> has issued alerts for <strong>significant rainfall<\/strong> along <strong>Florida\u2019s Gulf Coast<\/strong> through the upcoming days. <strong>Rainfall totals could exceed 10 inches (250 mm)<\/strong> in some locations, with the heaviest downpours expected between <strong>Wednesday, July 2<\/strong> and <strong>Thursday, July 3<\/strong>, just as the disturbance monitored by the <strong>NHC<\/strong> begins to approach the <strong>Florida Peninsula<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>Tampa Bay area<\/strong>, the <strong>NWS office in Ruskin<\/strong> has warned of <strong>increasing rainfall intensity<\/strong> by midweek. The expected <strong>heavy rainfall<\/strong> could lead to <strong>localized flash flooding<\/strong>, especially in <strong>urban centers<\/strong> and <strong>low-lying zones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Storms may impact travel plans nationwide<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Nationwide, a surge of <strong>cooler air<\/strong> sweeping from the west is expected to trigger <strong>severe storms<\/strong> from the <strong>Great Plains<\/strong> to the <strong>East Coast<\/strong>, according to <strong>Fox Weather<\/strong>. These conditions could <strong>disrupt travel plans<\/strong> for millions of Americans and cause <strong>delays at major airports<\/strong> and <strong>along key highways<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Roughly <strong>72.2 million Americans<\/strong> are expected to travel over the long holiday weekend, a <strong>record-breaking number<\/strong>, partly due to the <strong>4th of July<\/strong> falling on a <strong>Friday<\/strong> this year.
