By <strong>Friday<\/strong>, expect <strong>highs near 90\u00b0F (32\u00b0C)<\/strong>, but with the <strong>heat index<\/strong> likely reaching the <strong>mid 90s\u00b0F (35\u201337\u00b0C)<\/strong> across much of <strong>southern and central Minnesota<\/strong>. This is due to <strong>rising moisture levels<\/strong> and a building <strong>ridge of high pressure<\/strong> over the <strong>Upper Midwest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Storms develop late Friday into Saturday<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>While <strong>Thursday evening<\/strong> may bring <strong>a few isolated showers or storms<\/strong>, the <strong>primary storm threat<\/strong> is expected to develop <strong>late Friday<\/strong> into <strong>Friday night<\/strong>. A <strong>slow-moving cool front<\/strong>, in combination with an <strong>upper-level system<\/strong>, could trigger <strong>scattered thunderstorms<\/strong>, especially over <strong>central and southern Minnesota<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>severe weather risk<\/strong> remains <strong>low for now<\/strong>, mainly due to a <strong>lack of vertical wind shear<\/strong>, but <strong>heavy rainfall<\/strong>, <strong>lightning<\/strong>, and <strong>gusty winds<\/strong> could still occur with any stronger storm cells.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Relief arrives Sunday and Monday<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>By <strong>Sunday<\/strong>, behind the departing system, <strong>cooler and much drier air<\/strong> will filter in from the <strong>northwest<\/strong>, bringing a <strong>refreshing change<\/strong> to <strong>Minnesota<\/strong>.
