At the same time, <strong>meteorologists<\/strong> are closely monitoring a <strong>tropical disturbance<\/strong> near the <strong>northern Gulf Coast<\/strong> of <strong>Florida<\/strong> with <strong>potential for development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Tropical outlook: 40% chance of development this week<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A <strong>frontal boundary<\/strong> is expected to <strong>stall over northern Florida<\/strong> this weekend, creating conditions often associated with <strong>tropical formation<\/strong> during <strong>hurricane season<\/strong>. Model guidance suggests this stalled front could spawn an <strong>area of low pressure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As of <strong>today<\/strong>, the <strong>National Hurricane Center<\/strong> is giving this area a <strong>40% chance<\/strong> of <strong>tropical development<\/strong> within the next <strong>seven days<\/strong>. Although <strong>severe weather<\/strong> is not anticipated, <strong>frequent lightning<\/strong> and <strong>brief heavy downpours<\/strong> are expected.<\/p>\n<p>These <strong>summer storms<\/strong>, though inconvenient, may help ease the region\u2019s ongoing <strong>drought conditions<\/strong>. There\u2019s <strong>some optimism<\/strong> that storms may <strong>clear in time<\/strong> for <strong>Friday night\u2019s fireworks<\/strong>, but forecasts remain <strong>uncertain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the <strong>return of widespread rainfall<\/strong> is making an impact on the region\u2019s <strong>rain deficit<\/strong>, helping to slow or even <strong>reverse drought conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At this time, it&#8217;s <strong>impossible to pinpoint<\/strong> whether a <strong>tropical storm<\/strong> will form or exactly <strong>where it might develop<\/strong>.
