Due to <strong>extensive cloud cover<\/strong>, <strong>temperatures stayed cooler<\/strong> than Monday across much of the state. Though <strong>storm activity is winding down overnight<\/strong>, <strong>a few showers and isolated thunderstorms<\/strong> may persist into <strong>Wednesday morning<\/strong> in <strong>southeastern New Mexico<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By <strong>Wednesday afternoon<\/strong>, <strong>heavier rain<\/strong> becomes possible once again, especially in <strong>southern<\/strong> and <strong>western New Mexico<\/strong>, as <strong>deeper monsoonal moisture<\/strong> flows in from the west. This <strong>humid pattern<\/strong> will continue <strong>Wednesday night<\/strong>, maintaining <strong>scattered showers<\/strong> into <strong>Thursday morning<\/strong>, particularly across the <strong>western half<\/strong> of the state.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday afternoon<\/strong> brings another <strong>wave of widespread thunderstorms<\/strong>, potentially affecting nearly the entire state. Expect <strong>localized downpours<\/strong> and occasional <strong>gusty winds<\/strong> during this period.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A rapid <strong>drying trend begins Friday morning<\/strong>, ushering in <strong>hotter, drier air<\/strong> across <strong>New Mexico<\/strong> for the <strong>Fourth of July<\/strong>. While <strong>a few isolated mountain showers or storms<\/strong> may pop up, <strong>most areas will stay dry<\/strong>.
