Potential tropical system may strengthen off the Florida coast<\/strong><\/p>\n JACKSONVILLE, Florida<\/strong> \u2013 A developing area of low pressure<\/strong>, labeled Invest 92L<\/strong>, has formed just off the northeast coast of Florida<\/strong>, near Jacksonville<\/strong>, and is currently being monitored closely by meteorologists. This system could evolve into a tropical depression or weak tropical storm<\/strong> over the Atlantic Ocean<\/strong> during the holiday weekend<\/strong>, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds<\/strong> to parts of the South Carolina coast<\/strong>, particularly from Saturday night through Sunday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n According to Frank Strait<\/strong>, severe weather liaison<\/strong> at the South Carolina State Climate Office<\/strong>, the storm\u2019s forward motion has slowed<\/strong> since earlier forecasts. This slower movement means the disturbance may remain over warm ocean waters<\/strong> longer, increasing the chance of intensification<\/strong> before it makes its way northward<\/strong>. Areas closest to the Atlantic shoreline<\/strong>, especially along the South Carolina Lowcountry<\/strong>, should remain alert to changing conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n A moderate rip current risk<\/strong> is in effect for Friday<\/strong>, particularly along exposed coastlines<\/strong>.
